Save Money by Repairing Yourself
With this convenient kit, you can repair rotted window sills, exterior trim and more by yourself instead of paying someone else, allowing you to save money. The Bondo® Rotted Wood Repair Kit is a great value and includes 6 ounces of Bondo® Wood Filler with a spreader and cream hardener, 3 ounces Bondo® Rotted Wood Restorer, 80 and 180 grit 3M™ Sandpaper, and step-by-step instructions.

Strength to Restore and Rebuild
Bondo® Wood Filler can handle any wood repair ranging from the smallest to the largest of projects. Whether filling in minor furniture damage or rebuilding a missing piece of wood, the solution is Bondo® Wood Filler. When the filler and hardener are mixed, a reaction occurs which allows the filler to chemically bond to the surface you are repairing. This technological advantage of a 2-part wood filler also allows the product to cure quickly and adhere permanently to the repaired surface. For more advanced repairs, Bondo® Wood Filler can be applied in layers to rebuild rotted or missing pieces of wood. Unlike slower drying water or solvent based wood fillers that cure by evaporation, Bondo® Wood Filler chemically cross links to cure for a faster, more durable repair. As a result, Bondo® Wood Filler is water resistant and will not shrink. Not only can you save money, but you can make professional, great looking repairs.

Directions for Use

1. Clean surface with warm, soapy water or a surface cleaner to remove dirt, oil, dust or contaminants; let dry completely.

2. Remove all paint, primer, and soft or loose rotted wood with 3M™ Sandpaper 80 grit. Sand down to the bare surface as well as 1 to 2 inches beyond the damaged area. Remove all dust created from sanding.

3. Apply 4 to 6 coats of Bondo® Rotted Wood Restorer to the rotted area allowing 2 minutes between coats to soak-in. This will re-harden the rotted wood to create a solid base for the Bondo® Wood Filler 6 oz. Allow 2 hours for the Rotted Wood Restorer to fully cure.

4. Once Rotted Wood Restorer has fully dried, lightly sand with 3M™ Sandpaper 80 grit to remove the glossy surface. Remove all dust created from sanding.

Locate the container of Bondo® Wood Filler 6 oz. Under the lid will be two hardener packets for easy mixing and a Bondo® spreader for applying the filler to the damaged surface. Each packet contains enough hardener to mix with half the can of filler.

5. Remove half of the filler from the can and place on a clean non-porous surface.

6. Do not add cream hardener directly into the filler container. Knead one hardener package thoroughly to ensure contents are well mixed. Cut the corner of one hardener packet (0.075 ounces). Squeeze out all hardener contents from the one packet in a strip across the filler that you removed from the can.

7. Thoroughly mix the filler and hardener to a uniform color using the Bondo® Spreader. Keeping the contents thinly spread out will keep the filler from curing as quickly and give you a longer working time. Note: Once the Wood Filler and hardener are mixed together, the mixture will began to thicken up within 3-5 minutes at 75 degrees F (24 degrees C).

8. Spread initial thin layer of mixed filler over repair area using firm pressure to ensure maximum adhesion. Apply additional layers until desired thickness is reached. Allow 15 minutes for each layer of filler to cure (20-30 minutes if the room temperature is cooler than 77 degrees F/25 degrees C).

9. Once the Wood Filler is cured, shape/sand to contour with 80 grit sandpaper.

10. Feather the edge of the area with 3M™ Sandpaper 180 grit until the surface is smooth. If dust builds up or clogs the sandpaper, remove by brushing with wire brush.

11. Prime, paint, or apply wood stain to the area per the manufacture’s recommendation. Note: If staining, testing an area is recommended as Bondo® Wood Filler absorbs the stain differently than wood.

12. Clean tools with acetone or lacquer thinner.
